The  Rift and Roth's Departure

Following the release  of 1984, Roth left Van Halen in 1985 to pursue a solo career, including hits like "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody." His departure marked a significant turning point for both him and the band. Sa my Hagar replaced Roth as lead vocalist, leading to a different musical direction for Van Halen. Despite their split, both artists continued acknowledging each other's influence and contributions to rock music. Roth often admired Eddie's genius in interviews, stating that their working relationship was "better than any love affair" he ever had.

Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. His death marked a profound loss for the music world. In 2006, Roth rejoined Van Halen for a highly successful tour that became one of the highest-grossing tours of that year. This reunion showcased their ability to captivate audiences despite years of personal and professional challenges.
